Newsy Email #205 - Wednesday 23rd December

I am loving, and finding pretty exhausting, my first Calverley Christmas.
There is something about the candlelight, expectant faces, and the telling of the story all within the ancient stones of St. Wilfrid's. And of course the music.
The carols this year, even though we can't sing them seem to me to be more important and deeper than ever before.
(Who needs Slade when we have O Little Town of Bethlehem?)
On Thursday we have two more carol services and then on the holiest night of the year we gather for communion at 11:30pm.
Then, by way of complete contrast we will go from silence to being noisily joyful on Christmas morning. Christmas is not cancelled, light is bursting out all over!
God Bless, Robin

All our Christmas services in church are fully booked, apart from Midnight Communion, but you can join us live online for all of them, on our YouTube channel.

Christmas Eve:
2:30pm Family Carols
7pm Carols by Candlelight
11:30pm Midnight Communion

Christmas Day:
10:30am Special Christmas Communion for all the family.

On Sunday 27th December we just have one service, a Communion service at 9am which does not need to be booked, and from January onwards we’ll return to our usual pattern of 9am and 11am services.

May the God of hope, peace, love, and joy, bless us all this Christmas.
