Newsy Email #207 - Friday 8th January

Dear Friends,

So here we are in lockdown again. Except this time, it might well be the last time. This time lockdown time will merge into vaccine time, and this time we think we can see the end time. I am especially sorry for those who are having to shield and to be just about completely housebound. We will try our best to keep in touch so that no one feels left out.
As regards church life as a whole I want to give out two messages:

Firstly, we are attempting to keep Church open for one service every Sunday morning at 10:30am. We will monitor this and keep a very strong safety discipline but at the moment we think this is the best way forward for those who are able and want to come to church.
We had a very special first experience of this with our Wednesday Epiphany service. The numbers were a bit down, but the Spirit was up.

Secondly, I want to try and encourage everyone to see this lockdown in some sort of positive way as a retreat. A retreat is when we are cut off from others when we experience isolation and quietness, when our lives are less busy, when we have space to be still. That is stillness in ourselves and stillness with God.
So why don't you make a definite attempt to talk to God more during your daily walk, and perhaps watch our Daily Morning Prayer Services which are so beautifully led by our church team. Why not try to get into the Bible or a good worship CD. Or just phone a friend and have a chat?

So may our great and wonderful God keep us all strong and healthy in body, mind, and spirit, keep us mindful of each other, and content to live one day at a time.

God Bless you all,
Robin
