Two big words for everyone this week: Organs & Acts
Our church organ has been going on faithfully for years and years. It's played every week both beautifully and worshipfully by Jonathan our organist. I think you can say we have had our money’s worth. But now it is overdue for a refit. We plan to do the work in the Autumn. Mercifully, it is not going to cost as much as most organ refits normally cost. Nevertheless, it will probably need about £27,000 of work doing to it. So, the first stage of the organ appeal launches this Sunday, with Communion services at 9am & 11am full of information, music, and teaching from the bible about the importance of music and worship. Whether you're an organ fan or not, I hope you will be there for what will be a big Sunday.
It seems everyone is just realising that Jesus 100 finishes today, and then what? Well, the story of Jesus is followed in the Bible by the story of the first Christians. The ‘Acts of the Apostles’ is a bit like the beginning of Christianity volume 2. So, for the last few weeks I have been preparing a follow up set of notes. They're shorter and less detailed than Jesus 100 because I haven’t had much time to prepare them. There are 28 chapters in the book of Acts, so I have picked out one story from each chapter and called it Acts 28. I think it will be good to have a week’s break and then we will begin afresh.
