Newsy Email #239 - Saturday 14th August

We Give thanks For...
Kim & Simon have both been fully involved with all aspects of children’s work here at St. Wilfrid’s for over 25 years. In the early days, they committed themselves to visiting the children in their own homes, with many of those children (and there are many) now adults, not least their own daughter, Harriet.
Only God knows the seeds they have sown, so it’s with sadness we announce that Kim who holds a demanding job within the NHS, will be standing down to commit more time to her family. Meanwhile, Simon will continue to help and support Matt & Rachel with youth work.

The Church would like to recognise what both Kim & Simon have achieved over the years, and a collection will take place tomorrow morning and next Sunday 22nd, before a small presentation for them both on Sunday 29th August.
You can also donate online towards this collection by clicking/tapping here.

If you would like to record any memories you hold of their work with the children, please send it in writing with your name to [email protected] so we can mention in future news. Kim & Simon have not been included in this Newsy Email to keep the presentation a surprise, thank you.

Dennis & Marjorie Steele were active members of Calverley Parish for many years, as well as members of The Royal British Legion.
Interment of their ashes is on Friday 20th August at 12pm and the family have kindly invited those who remember our dear friends to the short service in our Churchyard.

News on the Home Front
We now have new four `Easy care’ sheep named Mary, Jesse, Edna, and Emma in our churchyard working hard to keep the vegetation down.
Please do not feed the sheep, as they have a special diet in addition to the grass they feed on.

Just a gentle reminder here to please keep the disabled parking spaces in front of church clear for those who need them most on a Sunday morning.

As the church starts to resume 'normal service', the servery will now be open to serve refreshments between the Sunday services every week. If you're able to help serve, please speak to Sandra ([email protected]).
