Newsy Email #240 - Friday 3rd September

A New Season
In many ways a new season is upon us, with autumn just round the corner, schools going back, and Rob, our new vicar in post, now is the time to embrace new beginnings!

A note from Rob, the new Vicar of Calverley Parish:
Hello there everyone! As you may have gathered, we’re finally in!
It’s been lovely to have been made so welcome already by so many members of the church and community. We’re rapidly feeling so at home here in Calverley.
You’ll be hearing lots from me over the coming weeks, but for now I’m sure you all have as many questions about us as we have about life here, so there’s a couple of opportunities for us to do all that:

– I’ll be preaching for the first time this Sunday 5th September, so do join us at 9am for our more traditional Holy Communion service, or at 11am for our Family Communion service. Coffee will be served in between as usual.
I look forward to seeing you all there!

– At 12pm on Sunday 12th September we’ll be doing an AMA lunch – that’s an ‘Ask Me Anything!’ Victoria and I will be sharing a little about what brought us here and taking any questions you might have such as how did we meet, what’s our favourite cheese, or anything in between, just bring some food and some questions!

That’s all for now. Do say hi if you see us around.
We can’t wait to see where Jesus is leading us all next at St Wilfrid’s.

Every Blessing,
Rob

Barn Babies
A reminder that Barn Babies, our parent & toddler group, will re-open next Thursday 9th September. This group is for parents/carers and their children under the age of 3. If you would like to book a place or would like more information, please contact Fiona Hainsworth ([email protected]).

Friday Coffee Shop
Our Friday Coffee Shop will hopefully be restarting sometime in September, watch this space! ‘Many hands make light work’. - If you can spare a few hours on a Friday morning to help at coffee shop, whether it’s a one-off or a regular, please let us know by contacting [email protected].

Rotas – Readers & Side Persons
More people are always welcome to join the rotas at church. If you think you would like to read or help as a side person, please contact [email protected] for more information.

Organ Restoration
Work has now begun on the organ, but the fundraising continues. Donations and sponsorships can still be made online at calverley.church/organ.
Keep an eye out for more information on a few social fund-raising events taking place soon!

Thank You!
Many Thanks go to all those who made Rob's induction service a success on Tuesday evening. Special thanks to Sandra & Brenda, as always, they worked tirelessly in the background to ensure it ran smoothly.
To all the ladies who helped in the barn, serving, & clearing till late.
To Toby & Simon working their magic, and streaming the whole event live online.
And to our hi-vis heroes David & Susan (hope you didn’t get too wet!).
All your help does not go unnoticed and is always greatly appreciated.

If you missed the special service, it's available to watch again on our YouTube channel here.
