Newsy Email #242 - Friday 17th September

Hello there!
This week at church we’ll be thinking and talking about wisdom. I’m reminded that it might well be better to remain silent and thought a fool than open one’s mouth and prove it, but that’s not an option for preachers!

Given that we’re bound to explore the topic, I wonder what you think wisdom is.
Does it change from age to age? Who is wise that you can think of, and what makes them stand out? Is it different from being clever, or knowledgeable?
Come and explore what God might have to say about it this week at either our 9am Traditional Holy Communion Service or 11am Family Communion Service.

On another note, it has been lovely to start meeting people this week, hearing people’s stories, their faith journeys, and what makes Calverley church so special for them. Do drop into church from 11-12 on Wednesdays if you’d like to catch up, I’ll be there!

Every Blessing,
Rob

Morning Prayer in Church
This Friday you are invited to join John Corbin at 8:30am for relaxed morning prayers in Church. All are welcome.

Coffee Shop
Don’t forget Friday Coffee Shop re-opens this week! Doors open at 9am (please do not come before as the team will still be setting up), and is on until 12pm.
Come for a cuppa and a chat. All are welcome.

Flowers for Harvest Festival
The church will be open between 9am-12pm on Saturday 2nd October to decorate for Harvest Festival. Anyone wishing to help & join the friendly team will be very welcome. No experience is needed as guidance will be given, plus tea, coffee, biscuits, and time to chat.
Donations of autumn flowers, green foliage, and especially Hydrangea heads are needed to ensure a spectacular display. These can be brought to church between 9am-10am on the day.
Also, should anyone wish, donations are always much appreciated in the Green Flower Box on the welcome table at the back of church. Please have a word with Julie Horan or Kim Pollard for further information, or email [email protected].

Harvest Festival
Our Harvest Festival will take place on Sunday 3rd October.
At both the 9am and 11am services we will gladly welcome non-perishable in-date food donations and financial donations. This year we'll be supporting the Bradford North Foodbank again, based down the road in Eccleshill.
They do a fantastic job in helping local people in need, and work hard to combat poverty and hunger.

Remembrance Service
This will take place on Sunday 14th November this year, with the service in church beginning at 10:30am. More details to follow closer the time.
