Hello All,
Here’s a question – Are we a growing church?
I certainly hope so. That’s something that consistently came out of our thinking and praying about vision in January & February - the desire to be Jesus’ hands and feet in Calverley, to share the joy we have together in him.
But what does it mean? That’s been something a few of us have been wrestling with this week as we went away on LYCIG course – Leading Your Church Into Growth. And after all, where else would we want to be led?
Growth means so means different things. It means growing in connection to each other, growing in our own faith, in love, in service.
And of course, growing in numbers. Someone said that the reason we want to see more people in church is not to grow our club, or have more money to fix the gutters, or more people singing to sound better – it’s just that we’re beggars too, and we’ve found bread; why wouldn’t we want to share the hope and life we have found in Jesus? If you hear us talking a lot more about growing, you’ll know why. I hope you’re enthused to come along for the journey with us!
In a couple of weeks we’ll be celebrating that hope in an All-In service at 10am on Easter Sunday. There will be cake, fizz, games, and (weather permitting) a picnic in the church yard! There will be a dawn gathering, and bacon sandwiches, too! In the run up to that there will be a whole host of activities to reflect on the highs and lows of that first Easter Week, moments of creativity, of sadness, of connection... all sorts. We hope to see you all there at something, watch this space for more details. Why not bring a friend?
God bless you all, Rob
