Blessings

What a fabulous start to the day it was to feed the animals in the churchyard early last Sunday morning. God's creation at its best with the beautiful churchyard, new-born calves, and a couple of deer in the adjoining field.
Then my heart was filled with God's love and joy to see everyone in church sat around tables in the centre of church interacting with each other enjoying the service and ascension crafts (Many thanks to Kim Pollard!).

We have lots to celebrate this weekend. Not only the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, but on Sunday we celebrate Pentecost which brings the 50 days of the Easter season to an end. For those of you as old as me will remember Whitsuntide as we knew it then, where you got to wear a new outfit then were paraded round neighbours’ friends and family for all to admire.
Pentecost is a major feast of the churches year when Christians recall how God's Holy Spirit was given to the disciples after Jesus' ascension.
Empowering them to begin work of making disciples of all nations.
So please come and join us this Sunday and why not dress in Pentecost colours of red, orange, and yellow (optional) as we celebrate God's gift of the Holy Spirt.

We're still collecting donations of food, household cleaning items, and toiletries for the Trussell Trust Foodbank and there is a collection box at the back of church if you would like to donate. These are then taken to the distribution centre in Eccleshill by Sylvia & Margaret Roundhill.

Finally, a reminder that this Sunday 5th we change to our new service times of 9:30am for our Traditional Holy Communion and 5pm for our all-age Family Worship.

Blessings,
Sandra

Calverley Millennium Walk Report
On Saturday 7th May, the grounds were decorated in blue & yellow, colours of the Ukraine flag. 110 walkers took part. This year most people did the full 8.5 miles, but some also did shorter distances. We had the pleasure of Councillor Carter addressing the walkers at the start and thanking all present for their support of this worthy cause. The walkers were then sent on their way through blue & yellow smoke! We had lots of feedback from those who completed the walk, really enjoying the diversity of our boundaries and how blessed we are with it all on our doorstep. Through donations & sponsorships, the total raised will be over £1000! Thank you to everyone who took part and to The Squeaker, The Calverley Arms, & Calverley Rotary for their support in helping make the event a great success.
