A Good Hard Listening To!

Hello Everyone,
How are you? No Really – how are you?

I’m well, thanks for asking, I really am.
As I write this, I've just finished a session talking with my counsellor. I say talking with, of course, I did most of the talking (no surprise there Rob, you might say!).

On a few occasions recently it has struck me how powerful it is to be listened to, to be the focus of someone’s undivided attention, for them not to interrupt or look to make the next bit of conversation, but for it to be all about you. We sometimes shirk from making ourselves the centre of attention, and rightly so I think, but from time to time it is a wonderful gift.
It speaks to us of being valued and worthy, when we are truly heard, to speak without being judged, to have time to judge our own thoughts, to form our own story, that’s precious. Whoever you are, I hope you know that you are valuable and worthy.

I often listen to people in my role as vicar, although I’m still learning to do it better! It’s always a privilege, and I would love to remember to do it more often with my friends and family.
I also know I have cherished doing it in Small Groups over the years, taking time once a term to listen to each other and pray for each other for an extended period of time – I really recommend it.

Maybe I’m not the only one who would like to listen better to those I love, and more often.

And if you too need a good hard listening to, let me know – I’m here to help!

With every blessing,
Rob

Sunday has moved!
We are nearly finished with the trial period for Sunday service times.
Up to and including 24th July, we're meeting at 9:30am for our Traditional Holy Communion Service, and 5pm in the afternoon for our Family Service, including Sunday school most weeks. Following on from this, due to holiday season, in August we'll be having just the one Sunday Service at 10am.
With that in mind...

...Survey!
We would love to know your views on our worship times and style.
Please click here to take the time to complete our online survey.
Paper copies of this same survey will also be available at the back of church tomorrow. Please complete online or in church by tomorrow.
Many Thanks.

Sad News
It is with much sadness that I need to let you know that Richard Crooks died on July 1st. Richard suffered a sudden brain-bleed while on holiday and passed away with his family around him. Our architect, a member of our PCC, and beloved member of our church family, Richard had an insightful mind, a gracious approach to life, an eye for beauty and glory, a vibrant faith, as well as a dry wit which I had come to cherish. It was Richard who threw together – in a seemingly effortless way – our new logo. It’s nice think that will be part of the public face of our church for years to come.
