Faith

I have been the church administrator for 1 year and 8 months.
Some of you will know that in that time I have struggled. Not with the job and all it entails, I’m confident in that and the team I have supporting me.

I do struggle though with my faith. In all the time I have been at St. Wilfrid’s (on and off for over 20 years), I’ve never felt into ‘it’ enough and always considered myself on the edge. I began the job at church and decided I would try harder with my faith. The more I tried the further away faith seemed to go. And then someone said to me ‘you can’t faith harder’. It was true.
I stopped trying to faith harder and got stuck into the job.

Today, I’m comfortable with where I am with my faith. I don’t read my bible every day, I certainly don’t know everything and probably never will and I’m not in exactly the same place as you. However, I do recognise the seemingly small signs of faith that remind me that God knows me and is working with me, so that I can know him, and I can trust him that I’m exactly where I’m meant to be.

Love & Blessings,
Sally

Sunday 18th December Services - Fourth Sunday of Advent
Our second Christingle takes place on Sunday at 11am. This is now fully booked. If you haven’t booked a place, you can still join us at the 9:15am service as usual, with Holy Communion & Richard Jobes preaching.
There is no coffee served between services this week, so no need to B.Y.O.M!

Walking Nativity (Wednesday 21st December, 4pm)
Beginning at 4pm by the Cenotaph in Calverley Park, join Mary & Joseph as they journey around Calverley and watch the story of the first Christmas unfold. There’ll be Shepherds, Kings, and Angels with music and carols to sing.
Get into the spirit of the season and dress up, not forgetting to bring a torch to light your way. At the end of the journey, mulled wine & minced pies will be served in church. If you are part of the cast, Brenda will be in contact shortly about rehearsals.

Prayers
Malcolm Raistrick is receiving respite care at Wheatfields, please hold him and his family in your prayers. Malcolm has worshipped at St. Wilfrid’s and the Methodist Chapel for many years and is well thought of by both congregations.

Please remember Rita Woodhead. Rita has lived in the village for many years and in the past has worshipped at St. Wilfrid’s as well as working with the youth at Priesthorpe School. Now in her advancing years she is still young at heart and has a supportive family around her, but health issues are coming to the fore, please hold Rita in your prayers.

Go Deeper
The latest 'Go Deeper' notes from Sue Ward's Sermon last week are now available at the back of church or online here. If you would like to receive these 'Go Deeper' notes by email, please click here to sign up.
The Go Deeper notes are also available to download using the link below all our sermon videos online.

T.A.G (Tuesday Afternoon Group)
The next meeting is on Tuesday 20th December in The Barn, 11am-2pm including shared lunch together. If you would like to join the group, please speak to Sue Ward. Following the meeting on Tuesday, some of the group will be heading to St. Luke’s nursing home in Calverley to spread some Christmas cheer by singing carols loud for all to hear!

Flowers in Church
You may have noticed the lovely Christmas flower display in church.
Thanks go to The Flower Team and their leaders Julie Horan & Kim Pollard.
We also thank our churchyard gardening team, Sutcliffe’s of Farsley, Palmer Plants, Farsley Rehoboth, and members of the congregation for providing greenery. Due to health reasons, Julie has stepped down from her role.
We are grateful for all the hard work and time Julie has put into the flower displays over the years. Not all churches are as blessed.
This means we're looking for somebody to work alongside Kim.
The main task is communicating with the team and organising supplies of flowers and foliage for the main church festivals (Christmas, Harvest, & Easter). Could you be the one to step in and help?
Please have a word with Julie or Kim if interested.

Leeds Women’s Aid
We're very grateful to everyone who brought gifts in the last couple weeks for Leeds Women’s Aid. We had over 20 bags full of lovely treats along with some practical bits & pieces for the women and their children that the charity supports.

Lay Eucharistic Ministry Training
A two hour in-person course will take place in church on Sunday 22nd January, 1-3pm, to enable lay people to feel confident about administering the sacraments (consecrated bread and wine) during a service of Holy Communion.
For more information and to book, please click here
If you will be attending straight after a service, please bring some lunch.

Lifts to Church
We have a couple of people in Rodley who would appreciate a lift to church for the 9:15am Sunday service and to the T.A.G group on a Tuesday Afternoon.
If you can help, please contact Revd. Rob.

Bring & Share Lunch
As a church, it’s good to meet and eat together. We’ve not done it for a while, so we have one planned for after the services on Sunday 29th January.
Save the date and watch out for more details!

Wreath Making
A wonderful, productive, & fun evening was had by all who attended the wreath making workshop last Saturday. The wreaths looked great!
Thanks to all those who came and those who organised.

Want to get more involved with Church?
We are looking for volunteers! Could you be in Team Warden? The next Wedding Verger? Or The Keeper of the Sheep? If you're interested, please have a word with Revd. Rob.
