Rich Colours Of Life

I love this time year, the daffodils dancing in the breeze, lambs gambolling across the fields, and precious family time over the Easter period.
It's a time of celebration, which in our house is always punctuated by music.

The Easter Service on Sunday had it all - the flowers were stunning, the creativity of our flower team never ceases to impress. The service was moving and celebratory, with a bit of fizz being the perfect culmination.
For the Lacey family and the fabulous ‘pop-up’ choir, it was the triumphant expression of faith demonstrated through music. A wonderful result of teamwork, perseverance, talent, faith, and fun. It is always so rewarding to be part of a group working together to make music. The group brings together generations, joins together people who don’t always know each other and whose unifying element is working together to create a joyful noise.

Around the preparation for Church Services, the Lacey family works and plays. The immediate family is Jonathan, me, and our lovely ‘Easter Bunnies’ who had a birthday this week. We have been blessed with time at home with close friends and visiting family, and a few precious hours in our hideaway in Northumberland. There has been work too, there always is!

In amongst the joy the complexity of life is always there. Some friends we have spent time with are recently bereaved and next week will start with a family funeral. Life is always full of the rich colours and then the darker duller shades and it is up to us to find the joy and happiness within that rich texture. Singing helps me, singing and looking for happy things and looking for ways to bring things together. As a child, I celebrated Passover with some family and friends, as well as Easter, this year Easter, Passover and the Holy month of Ramadan coincide, this did happen last year but is unlikely to occur again for another 30 years or so. For me it highlights the ways religions can echo one another, fasting and feasting to demonstrate devoutness.
The more we look for ways to respect and understand one another, the better the world will be. Having an Anglican grandfather and Jewish grandfather, both whom I loved, helped me to see their similarities, not their differences, the power of generosity, kindness, and love.
I cherish the uniqueness of my family, remember to cherish yours.

Rebecca Lacey

Flowers in Church
Thank You for the generous donations of flowers, money, and time we received to make our worship space look beautiful throughout the Easter season.
