Jacob’s Ladder – Where YOU Meet God

As part of our time together last Sunday we thought about the times and places where we go expectantly to meet with God, and about times and places where we find ourselves surprised by a real sense of God’s presence with us. We wrote our ideas onto paper angels and placed these going up and down “Jacob’s Ladder”.

It turns out that St. Wilfrid’s finds and are found by God in myriad different ways, places, people, and spaces – from churches and cathedrals, to gardens and by pizza ovens, from hospitals and in strangers and friends, to woodlands and in music. Sometimes God found us where we were in a place of joy and delight, at other times when we were struggling. Sometimes we are outdoors, caught by the beauty of creation, at other times we it is something we read.

If you haven’t had a chance, do wonder why you might find God in a particular way, and if there might be other places where you haven’t thought yet to look for God and feel God’s love for you.

You might like to remember times where God crept (or perhaps burst!) into your thoughts in a way that surprised you in the past, too.

There's a picture of our angel-crowded ladder shown below (which will be in church next week too) to inspire you. I hope you might find new ways and rediscover old ways of connecting with God that refresh, inspire, and comfort you.

Thank you to everyone who shared their experiences on Sunday!
You can watch the entire sermon again online here if you missed it or would just like to watch again.

Love from,
Lizzie

Summer Slow Down
Schools out for summer! That means from now until Sunday 3rd September there’ll be only one service at 10am with coffee served afterwards.
This week @ 10am, Val will be preaching and Naomi leading.
All are welcome and we’d love to see you!
As the team take some holidays it may feel like church activities are slowing down, but we remember that God is still working in and through his people.
There might not be as much to report in the weekly news letters, but we’ve plenty planned for September when we’ll all be well rested & refreshed ready for the new season at St. Wilfrid’s.
