Thanks for your prayers for my recent trip to Pakistan. It was a remarkable time. It’s a different country to the one I left. I had to have someone with me when I went out and trips involved an armed person in the car. But the people are warm and I felt safe and enjoyed both the conference and the time in Lahore, seeing old friends.
We are now recruiting volunteers for the
WYDAN Night Shelter Project that starts 11th November for two weeks. There are lots of jobs. A reminder that to help in a hands on way, you will need to go to training at Pudsey Parish Church on 24th October, 6:30pm if you haven’t been. I’ll be going and happy to give a lift to anyone who can’t make it.
Our main urgent need is to make sure we have the night duty covered. We need to have two per night. As all the residents are men, it makes sense for most of overnight helpers to be men. It would be really helpful if people could sign up for two nights over the fortnight and ideally with the same person so that you work as a team on both nights. You will get some sleep. And it will be both helpful and rewarding. It’s a sacrifice, but I think most people who are fit and able can manage it. I will cover where there aren’t people available, but don’t want to be on every night! I’ll be contacting people about this, but feel free to let me know availability.
