Newsy Email - Tuesday 6th November
Greetings all,

As we approach Remembrance Sunday, I’m conscious that this is as very special time to remember and give thanks for those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice.
Do join us on Sunday. There will be bagpipes played at 6am in the Churchyard. Then at 10am we will meet at the Cenotaph for a brief ceremony, then down to Church for a commemoration at 10:20am outside Church, followed by the 10:30am service. At 12:30pm the Church bells will be rung. At 3pm a service will take place in Brookfield Park to remember those who have died from Calverley and Farsley. Then at 7pm a beacon will be lit in a field on Woodhall Rd (just before Calverley Golf Club).
As it’s the 100 year anniversary this is an event that we should really all attend. We expect about 400 in church, so do make sure you arrive in plenty of time.

On the following day we will be starting the West Yorkshire Destitute Asylum seeker night shelter. Thanks to all of you who have signed up to different roles.
In the second week (from 20th November) we need more people to meet and greet and also share the evening meal (6-8pm), as well as be there to socialise and play games (8-10pm). We could also do with a few more for the morning breakfast shift in second week also.
And finally, if anyone has or can source a fridge to use for the fortnight, that would be really helpful. We’ve done really well so far and particular thanks to Sue for her work in organising the Night Shelter.
Let’s make sure that lots of us do a little, rather than leaving it to others. It’s going to be a lot of fun and very rewarding. We’ve decided that we won’t be open during the day on the weekends due to other commitments.

On the 18th, 25th, and the Saturday services, we will be focussing on using our gifts. This includes working out how we can use our natural abilities to be a part of Church. It will also consider how we can support the church in terms of our regular giving.

Then we’re into Advent on 2nd December.

Can I ask you to pray for: Pat Collinge, David Burt, Adam Hainsworth, Ali Twist, and Liz Beaumont. Please pray as they deal with different physical challenges.

Blessings,
Phil.
