Newsy Email - Thursday 6th December
Hi all,
There’s a lot going on at the moment.

This Friday we have some of our young people sleeping in Church as a reminder and challenge about those who don’t have a place to sleep at this time of year. They will be raising funds for work among homeless people. Please do support them.

I think most of you are aware of what is happening over Christmas but a reminder that this Sunday at 4pm we have our first ‘Christmas Event’, The Walking Nativity, starting at the Cenotaph in the Park.  It’s going to be great.

We do have our Saturday Family Communion Service, as well as both 9am and 10:45am Sunday services, focussing on John the Baptist in the second week of Advent. It’s going to be good.

Please pray for all the school events coming up. 'What’s the story?' was a big success this week and the carols services are also coming up.

We do need some more singers to come along to the next rehearsal at 7pm on Tuesday the 11th of December.

Our Christingle on Saturday 22nd December (4pm) and Sunday 23rd will be full as always. So, get in early! Then it’s the 5 services on Christmas Eve, and of course, Christmas Day.

On New Year’s Eve there will be a Ceilidh starting at 7:30pm too!

Our next Start Course is going to be at the vicarage at 7:45pm starting on 17th January 2019.  We’ll be looking the nuts and bolts of the Christian Faith.

In January, we’ll be starting a new challenge too - to get people reading the Bible every day, using either Word Live (wordlive.org) or Encounter with God (scriptureunion.org/encounters).

And do get these three January 2019 dates in the diary: Brewery Trip on Friday 11th January, The Mama Mia sing-along film on Friday 18th, and Bishop Nick on Sunday 20th, with no intended connection between these three events!

Please can you pray for those who are bereaved: Susan Mason and the family, and the Gardiner family this week, and for Ali who has broken her leg?

Finally, Will Talbot will be joining us on placement from Ridley Hall Cambridge where he is studying for ordination. He starts on Sunday. Please make him welcome as he looks at what goes on at St Wilfrid’s. I’m sure if you invite him over for a meal, he’ll be appreciative!

Blessings,
Phil
