Newsy Email - Friday 5th April
Hi all,

Amidst the Brexit deliberations, it’s easy to forget another season is going on!
This Sunday is the beginning of Passiontide, when we prepare for Holy Week and Easter, so we’re into a special time. With the school holidays coming so early it feels like Lent is a bit disjointed, but we are coming to the main event in the Christian calendar and I hope we are all preparing well.

I would just like to mention a few things; Firstly, this Saturday, Messy Church will take place at 3pm in Church.

On Sunday, we have our two Parish Meetings either side of the 10:45am Service, including the election of Church Wardens. We are grateful that along with Dan, Sandra is standing for a final year as Church Warden, providing continuity. We are very grateful to Dan and Sandra for all they do.

Our focus this week is on the anointing of Jesus by Mary, and what that means for us.

Next week, we have Palm Sunday, and the Youth Event at 7pm in Church that Harriet is speaking at.

And then the following week we have our, Maundy Thursday (18th) service, then Good Friday (19th) service in the morning, and 'The Hour At The Cross' in the afternoon at 2pm. This is a special reflective service and to be recommended.

On Saturday 20th, the Easter walk is happening at 5pm in Church.
This is a dramatic interpretation of the events around Easter, It's for the whole family.

Then on Easter Sunday (21st), we have the early 6am Vigil Service, followed by breakfast, and a 10:45am Family Communion service.

On another note, last week the questionnaire about 'Life at St Wilfrid’s went out.
If you have seen it, would you mind filling it out? With comments if possible and getting it back by Palm Sunday?
Alternatively, please download a copy by clicking here, complete, and feel free to reply to this email, with it attached. Thank you.

Beyond Easter, my sabbatical beckons!
I’m looking forward to an Ignatian retreat to start, lots of reading, a trip to South Africa with Ben and Daisy, and a walk into Assisi in July. But it’ll be gone in no time at all!
We have an amazing team of people at Church and lots of visiting speakers coming up, so it’s going to be an exciting time in Church too.
Contact details will be on the notice board, and on our website. Generally; for issues related to Worship and Pastoral issues, please contact Sue McWhinney. And for anything to do with the Church building/Church yard, please speak with Sandra Tempest or Dan Cohen.
So, for example a Funeral enquiry goes to Sue, while an escaped goat goes to Sandra and Dan.
I won’t be using my normal mobile phone number and won’t be answering emails during my sabbatical. But there will be plenty of people to help.
I’ll be back the first week of August.

Right, looking forward to seeing you this Weekend!

Blessings,
Phil
