Newsy Email #122 - Monday 30th March

Dear friends,
I hope you’re all OK?

Just to keep you updated in terms of our community involvement, we’re due to open up our Church tomorrow (Tuesday) mornings from 10am - 12pm and on Fridays from 10am - 12pm to collect food for the Local Food Hub at Pudsey Parish Church. The plan is for Pudsey Parish to update its new dedicated Facebook Page with their needs. So, what we need is some volunteers who are willing to be present in Church for each session. We’ll make a rota for each date.
The idea is not to chat with people, just to be there while people can drop off at our Church. It would be helpful if at least one volunteer is a key holder please.

We are continuing to support people locally too, and a steady stream of food requests are coming into us. Many thanks to those who are doing food shops.
With regards to donations of food for the Foodbank, we can take those too, but how about making a financial donation instead? At this time, a financial donation is better for infection control, and means they can get exactly what they need. Please click here to donate and learn more. I’ve just made my first financial donation to a food bank!

In terms of pastoral care, I’d like to try doing direct WhatsApp video calls over the next month. It’s pretty simple: I'll just organise a time to call you, and no need to tidy the house! We'll just have a face to face chat, and I’ll pray with you.
You just need to download WhatsApp (iOS Download - Android Download).
If for no other reason, do it for me. I’m missing visiting people!

I’m also wanting to encourage people to do the three times of prayer a day.
Please click here to read Newsy Email #120 where I first proposed this, including a schedule and links to download helpful apps.
Could you possibly set some reminders/alarms on your phone and give it a go?

The second video sermon in the Philippians series will be out on Wednesday.

This Sunday as we know is Palm Sunday. In Holy Week, which starts next Sunday 5th, I’m going to be doing a Daily Communion Service which will be recorded and made available to watch. The services will be from Monday - Friday, including a short reflection.

We will also be having a Reflective Hour at the cross, on Friday 10th at 2pm.

On Easter Sunday (12th April) we will have a Morning Vigil Service at 6am, followed by an all-age Communion Service with all-age talk at 10:45am.
More details to follow, but that’s the shape of things over the next fortnight.

Looking out for each other is our main responsibility at this time, and I know that many of you are doing that, so well done. Keep it up!

God bless,
Phil
