Newsy Email #167 - Thursday 25th June

Dear friends,

Please click here if you'd like to watch Morning Prayer for today with Pauline.

Well, it’s been quite a week.
On Tuesday we heard the news that Church services can be conducted in a socially distanced way, and that weddings can take place with up to 30 guests.
This is better than we anticipated, so, good news!
In terms of regular services, while the government has eased restrictions, we are waiting for guidance from the Diocese. What I can say is that we won’t be going back to normal as soon as the government has suggested (4th July).
However, over the coming weeks we’ll be formulating a plan. Our next PCC meeting is 13th July, so we’ll be looking at it in more depth then.

This Sunday, Robin Gamble will be joining us in our service!
Robin takes the lead in the whole diocese for Church Growth & Evangelism.
He brings a great warmth & insight and it’ll be great. As per usual, the service will be available on our website from 9am, with Online Coffee Morning at 11am.

Thanks to all who have offered to cook for the 13 residents at Garforth House.
This is following on from the WYDAN project, working with destitute refugees that we supported in Church back in 2018. This is a very practical, ‘Jesus hands’ sort of opportunity that chimes in well with Black Lives Matter.
They are now housed in one place due to the current situation. I think we’ll be fine for the jobs around getting the food there and shopping, but there are still other ways to help. They are struggling financially at the moment, so please click here again to contact Katrina regarding making a donation if you can.

I think most people are now aware, but our (The Arnold's) final service at Calverley will be on Sunday 13th September. Our start date at Armley is Tuesday 22nd September at 7:30pm. It’s likely that we'll be moving before our final service, around the end of August or beginning of September, so that we're ready for the kids starting school, and we'll come back for services in Calverley.
With this in mind, we’re working out how to see people, when it seems that even then, social distancing will not allow a very large gathering.
What I’m hoping to do is have an opportunity for small groups of people to come to the vicarage over a few days to meet in our garden. The dates I currently have in mind are the afternoon of Thursday 13th August till Sunday night on 16th August. While that might seem a little early, in terms of having a house that is not packed up, that works for us. So, there will be opportunities over these days to come for morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, or dinner, and perhaps time in-between (I’m ruling out breakfast!). The idea is for people to stay for an hour or so and have a chance to properly spend some time together. Closer to the time, we’ll work out exactly when it best suits for people to pop around and visit.

Blessings,
Phil
